My 4K TV on XBox One X and PS4 Pro!

It’s thanks to the “French Days” sales that I finally bought a 4K TV for my Xbox One X and PS4 Pro! Here's what I think!

My venerable Philips 42-inch Full HD 3D Full HD TV still working after 10 years of good and loyal service, it was clearly time for it to rest a little and for me to finally take the leap to 4K! Since everyone swears by 4K resolution today! My criteria were as follows. It had to be at a reasonable price, obviously be in 4K and have a 60HZ panel because 50HZ is just not great for gaming :/

During the French Days I found a 43-inch 4K TV from Toshiba, with a 60Hz VA panel, with all the HDR standards but, surprisingly, it offers the Dolby Vision standard. Displayed at a price of €229 ondealabsObviously I jumped at the opportunity because I didn't want to spend too much money on a 4K television

My Xbox One X and PS4 Pro in 4K!

After installing the latest firmware for this Toshiba 4K television, I configured my Xbox One so that it displays my games in 4K 60HZ with the different HDR modes but also with the Dolby vision standard. On my Toshiba 4K TV I selected the game mode in order to reduce the input lag and I turned off the noise reduction mode which gave a blurry and strange rendering to the games.

Once on my games I took a huge slap! Visually it’s superb! Gears 5, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey and Forza Horizon 4 are great on my 4K TV! The image is sharp but above all very detailed! HDR gives a more realistic rendering to games, it’s clearly a treat for my games 🙂 . This Toshiba 4K TV does a very good job on my Xbox One

On the other hand, what I hadn't expected was that ultimately 43 inches was a little too tight for playing! I have too much distance in my living room, and so when we move too far away we ultimately see little difference between Full HD and 4K. So I have to play closer to get the most out of 4K.  But it is likely that this 4K Toshiba television will end up in my bedroom with less space, and that I will take a 5O or 55 inch TV for the living room :p

What is certain is that 4K televisions are useful for Xbox One X and PS4 Pro game consoles when the games offer 4K resolution!

And yes, we must not forget that a lot of programs are not yet in 4K! I'm thinking of the TNT channels on Molotov, frankly, 4K is useless on it. You have to look at Netflix, Amazon Prime, and OCS to choose certain films and series in 4K to take advantage of this new resolution

My verdict!

Yes, a 4K TV is useful for XBox One X and PS4 Pro game consoles. There is no doubt that this 4k TV will become essential for the next generation of consoles which will certainly offer 4K 60FPS by default on all games! But be careful, you have to choose your television carefully, and it doesn’t have to be very expensive!

Please note here are the criteria that should not be ignored:

-Response time

-Imput lag

-A VA standard panel (avoid the IPS panel) or Qled/Oled for the wealthy

-The panel must be at least 60hz

-Du HDR

-A light panel

If you meet these criteria you will have a good 4K television to play your video games! Look closely at the next “Black Friday” sales period, you will probably find your next TV :)
